About Laura Searle
With over two decades of dedicated craftsmanship, Laura Searle has been providing expert clothing alterations and repairs across Adelaide since 2000. From everyday tailoring to award-winning bridal couture, discover the story behind the studio.

Laura’s journey began in 2000, creating custom outfits in her parents' lounge room before completing two years of formal fashion studies at TAFE. She honed her craft across Adelaide at Five Star Alterations, Myer, Tip Top Dry Cleaners, and Marryatville Dry Cleaners. Spotting an opportunity in retail tailoring, Laura began partnering with fashion retailers at Elizabeth Shopping Centre, eventually building contracts with more than 30 major stores including Roger David, Westco, Ed Harry, Connor, and Suzanne Grae. Alongside working with renowned Adelaide fashion houses like Jenny & Gerry's Bridal Centre, Liza Emanuele, and George Gross & Harry Who, Laura transitioned to running her own home-based studio full-time—allowing her to raise her family while delivering exceptional personal service to clients.

Recognised excellence in bridal alterations
Laura Searle is celebrated throughout South Australia for specialised bridal and formal wear alterations. Highly acclaimed at the Bridal Industry Awards Australia, Laura was awarded 2nd place for Bridal Alterations in South Australia in 2023, followed by 1st place in South Australia and Top 10 in all of Australia for 2025, as well as 1st place in South Australia for 2026. Whether altering a simple pair of pants or re-engineering intricate lace on a couture wedding gown, each piece receives the same gold-standard attention to detail.

A seamless, personal fitting experience
Every client is welcomed into a relaxed, professional home-studio setting. For bridal wear, clients typically enjoy two to three dedicated appointments: an initial consultation to discuss needs and pin the fit, a second fitting where the gown is stitched and tacked to ensure every contour sits perfectly, and a final fitting to try on the completed gown. During this last session, Laura demonstrates how to step into the dress and secure the bustle with ease. If any final tweak is required, it is resolved on the spot or overnight, ensuring complete peace of mind.
"When I do an alteration, I make sure you can't even tell it was altered. I always ask myself: would I be completely happy wearing this?"
